Antigua and Barbuda native Bernel Simon simply flew dwelling in historic trend — in his new function as an American Airways captain.
Captain Simon was greeted with a water cannon salute with the arrival of American Airways flight 2378 fro New York.
In a gesture of nationwide delight, Simon flew the Antigua and Barbuda nationwide flag from the cockpit window.
The historic occasion was attended by The Honourable Charles Fernandez, Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Transportation and Funding, Colin C. James, C.E.O of the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority, Mr. Joseph Samuel performing C.E.O of Antigua and Barbuda Airport Authority, together with Simon’s dad and mom, amongst others.
Simon, a veteran of a 20-year aviation profession, was promoted to captain on Might 16, 2024.
“I’m deeply grateful to American Airways for the alternatives they’ve supplied and for believing in me all through my journey,” Simon stated. “Throughout all my years spent with American, I’m proof that a little bit youngster rising up in within the Caribbean with a dream of aviation and aspirations of chickening out has just one factor limiting them: The sky.”
