SkirtsAfire Competition started (as so many good concepts do) with crimson wine, popcorn, and a few good girls! The pageant was created to deal with the gender inequity that ladies artists had been experiencing within the theatre group and bigger multidisciplinary arts communities, from lack of roles for ladies to a disparity inside management positions. SkirtsAfire was constructed to create alternatives for ladies within the arts and to focus on the range of their tales. Along side Worldwide Ladies’s Day, this 12 months’s 11-day programming options a big selection of passionate, transformative, and interesting women-led performances, workshops, and reveals.

Beginning out on Alberta Avenue, the pageant has grown and advanced over the 12 years it has been working. Since 2012, SkirtsAfire has produced over 182 exhibits, 24 workshops, 24 reveals, and given alternatives to over 1455 girls. Moreover, over 21,860 viewers members have visited the pageant!
