Italy: The 14th century palazzo lodge Rastrello, on the border of Umbria and Tuscany, has achieved B Corp certification.
A member of Design Motels, Rastrello is independently owned and family-run.
Initially an deserted historic home, proprietor Christiane Wassmann restored the constructing and relaunched the location as Rastrello in 2020.
The lodge presents 9 rooms and a farm-to-table restaurant Cucina & Giardino led by regional chef Nicola Fanfano.
Operationally, photo voltaic panels have been put in within the gardens and farmhouse, and the entire heating system is run on wooden from renovating deserted olive groves.
Sustainably collected water akin to a blackwater cleansing system, captured rainwater and a nicely are used throughout the gardens and groves. All water (each within the lodge and restaurant) can be filtered and bottled in-house.
